BNSF - Chaffee MO then and now
On my day of scouting out the route of the UP “Big Boy” through Missouri and Illinois I detoured a few miles to check out Chaffee MO, a crew change point on BNSF half way between St. Louis and Memphis.
1. A new crew is aboard BNSF 7220-8154, and they are ready to depart south for Memphis. Chaffee MO. 08-27-2021.
2. On the move a couple of miles south of Chaffee MO. BNSF 7220-8154.

4. I didn’t know it but 7220 south was passing a northbound train at Brooks MO. BNSF 7220-8154.

7. Back in Chaffee MO I took time to shoot this local power. BNSF 3195-2848.
8. BNSF 3195 is a “GP25”. It was rebuilt from a Santa Fe GP50 (blt. 1981). Chaffee MO.

15. Sue and I visited Chaffee on 09-06-1981. The Frisco had been taken over by Burlington Northern. BN depot. Chaffee MO.

21. A southbound freight arrives behind ex-Frisco GP35 2562-6681-6672, and the new crew gets on board. This GP35 and two SD45s are all ex-Frisco. Chaffee MO.

23. We stumbled across this ex-Frisco caboose in Ash Grove MO on 08-08-1986. BN cab 11616. It had been retired and donated. Looks like an International Car product. Chaffee MO.
