2. H800-28 was delivering 75 empty tubs to the Green Valley mine north of Quinwood.  After getting on the Greenbrier & Eastern Subdivision at Rainelle, the railroad is largely in the “boonies” until it enters civilization again at Bellburn.  But there is one location called Russellville Road (MP  4.72) where you can witness a train marching up the steep grade that reaches a maximum of 2.67 percent.

11. Quinwood Tunnel was built in 1943 when the Hominy Creek Sub. was extended off the G&E from Quinwood.  The tunnel is 301 feet timber lined and 667 feet rock.  The rock must be in the middle because both portals are timber.

12. Back over at Gumm Siding, we found H805-28 loaded out and ready to leave as soon as the conductor gets to the head end.

14. On the way home on a dreary Sunday, March 30th, I beat westbound empty oil (??) train W944-27 behind 7551 to Chelyan.  W944-27 had 36 empty tank cars.  The vacant area to the right was C&O’s Cabin Creek Yard.
