Tidewater Logistics at Fairmont WV
Last spring (2024) on our return from vacation we stopped in Fairmont WV, to check out the former B&O rail yard. The yard tracks have been almost completely removed, and Tidewater Logistics had a large frac sand unloading facility there.

4. An area once covered by a sea of B&O hoppers and smoking EM-1s.
5. Unit train.
6. Loadermasters in the distance.
7. This Loadmaster Rail 3655X can be used for unloading rail, barge or truck.
8. Loadmaster emblem.
9. One of these can unload 200-250 tons per hour. The Tidewater Logistics has a pix on one unloading a covered hopper.
10. Rail King.
11. This Rail King model RK285G6 track mobile does the work of a locomotive.
12. Scales at the entrance to the facility.
13. On 09-27-2024, we found these units parked. That is the CSX Fairmont SD on the right.
14. CSX 4552 and NS 4452. What a coincidence in numbers!
I looked at the Tidewater Logistics website. Fairmont is listed, but it gives no details on the facility. They also have similar operations in Steubenville OH, and Allenport PA. Both of which are served by NS.
All for now.
